A Brief History
The very first Kearney Area Pagan Pride Day was held on Sunday, October 20, 2013. It was a success with 49 attendees, a group ritual, 6 organizations/groups represented, $106 raised for our charity, and $31 raised for the KAPP. We also had a potluck meal, face painting, bake sale, and auction.
In 2014, we upped all of our numbers by raising $204 for our charity and $140 for KAPP. There were 55 attendees, 2 group rituals, 2 workshops, a town hall meeting, potluck feast, raffle, entertainment, readers, and a grounding meditation. September 28 was indeed a glorious day in Kearney.
Sunday, September 27 marked our 3-year anniversary. The number of attendees jumped to 70 but our funds raised decreased. Still, the day was a huge success with 2 workshops (one a two-parter), featured speaker, demonstration, 2 group rituals, 1 children-created ritual, meditation tent, raffle, potluck feast, dedicated children's activities, readers, and our annual meeting. We had attendees from Wayne, Lincoln, and Omaha along with many from the tri-cities area.
Year FOUR saw 42 attendees, 4 kittens, 2 dogs, 1 ritual, 5 workshops, 7 readers, the much-loved meditation tent, 1 potluck meal, and 1 snack break. The event was held on Saturday, September 24 from 10:00 am until 7:oo pm. We also moved to a new location within the same park. We raised $194 for our charity and $83 for KAPP.
